favorite things

firstly, a wonderful and happy birthday to my 9 year old bfff, sasha. (baby cakes, cakes, googly poof, the goog.) she is awesome, and smelly. much loves.

i participated in a post secret swap on craftster. here is one of the less shameful secrets i sent out into the world. :]

happy weekend. i think i'm going spend the rest of this rainy, chilly spring friday night catching up on some art projects. more info upon success..

le sigh.

i am feeling far less than witty, and have been looking at a sky filled with clouds all day. also, i have not been inspired to blog lately, i think i've been in some sort of funk. got a case of the blahs.

hey, spring, thanks for showing up..

happy friday. the weather here is beautiful, and i don't plan on spending much time indoors this weekend. here's to playing in the woods, planting pretty flowers, and eating al fresco!

little green children

oh, the lovely days of spring! i'm preparing for a wonderful summer garden. salad, anitpasta, and salsa will abound in my future! i've been peeking under the little greenhouse lid everyday now for the past week, and i finally have sprouts! little salad sprouts. needless to say, i'm very excited!

i knew it!

"security is mostly a superstition. it does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it. avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. life is either a daring adventure, or nothing." -helen keller

oh, my twitchy witchy girl

i think you are so nice.

this weather has me really feelin' nature, so i've been curled up enjoying the sunshine, songbirds, and my sketchbook.

GATH

sometimes you come across things and you're all, "whoa. what a lovely experience for my ears." yes. yes, this happens everytime i listen to gregory and the hawk. over the last few years, her sound has just gotten dreamier and dreamier.

check out her myspace and her website..i'm particularly in love with the songs 'his wife is a queen here' and 'august moon.'

tough love

(image via pikaland.com)

autobiographically sound

i hail from a family of artists, music makers, and weirdos; i grew up in a haunted house, and i've tried pickle soup. i've lived by the sea for the last 20 years, and have a nice collection of use-battered books, all of which i've loved. i have an old dog, and a new cat. i'm going to see a lot, do a lot, and learn even more. and i'm going to make sure of it.

a place to rest my head

because i have many, many other things i need to be doing right now i've been on a left-click-and-save binge that would probably warrant a very emotional and highly dramatic intervention. they would try to be gentle, and i'd refute, sobbing. you know, the usual.

so, in the spirit of lazing around when other tasks must be accomplished, here is a collection of cozy nooks i'd like to curl up in..

lying in bed would be an altogether perfect and supreme experience if only one had a coloured pencil long enough to draw on the ceiling.
g.k. chesterton

the feeling of sleepiness when you are not in a bed, and can't get there, is the meanest feeling in the world.

ok..seriously!

if you don't read GALA DARLING you should. as in right now. go!

i mean, seriously, she had pink hair. which meets one of the three mandatory criteria that must be met before i start taking advice. i'm just kidding. it's the only criteria.

"fate is like a strange, unpopular restaurant filled with odd little waiters who bring you things that you never asked for and don't always like."
lemony snicket

it always grows back, hair grows even after you're dead.

just got back, after a week of lounging around, taking in the sea air and wishing for spring. worked on a project for a craftster swap, watched some great movies, and managed to turn myself a into a dead-ringer for one mister draco malfoy.

no seriously, upon seeing the results, we all launched into a fury of snobbish harry potter quotes. good times had by all, not counting, of course, my poor hair, who takes it like a champ. FILTHY MUDBLOOD.

GO ME.

the beauty of hair is that it grows, even after you're dead. another box, another color. and man oh man, i love to wing it.

so, for now, i'm looking at pictures of charlotte gainsbourg, listening to andrew bird, and working on some...works in progress. also, catching up on all the wonderful blog posts i've missed..
